Privacy Impact and Data Security
How we Manage Data Security and Your Privacy During our Flight Operations.
Airvis are a leading provider of Unmanned Aerial Systems (aka Drones) Security and Surveillance in the United Kingdom. Established in 2015 we have been pioneering the use of drones within the security and surveillance industries. The capability to operate both day and night, using the latest in drone technology, enables superior surveillance detection 24 hrs a day for our clients. We are passionate about deploying this increased capability to aid in deterring and fighting crime, in an ethical and responsible manner.
It cannot be denied the use of drones has grown exponentially in recent times. The default configuration of any drone includes at least one GPS and a video camera, and from there all kinds of data acquisition and processing devices exist such as:

Your Rights
The right to data protection is a fundamental right that guarantees any person's capacity to decide on their own personal information. The inappropriate use of drones, and collected imagery and data has the potential to impact on a person’s right to data protection, and therefore, may constitute a violation of their rights and freedoms.
The use of drones in a surveillance role has a high potential of collateral intrusion by recording images of individuals unnecessarily and therefore can be highly privacy intrusive, i.e. the likelihood of recording individuals is high, because of the height the drone can operate at and the unique vantage point they afford. Individuals may not always be directly identifiable from the footage captured by the drone but can still be identified through the context they are captured in, or by using the devices ability to zoom in on a specific person.
How Does Airvis Protect Your Privacy
We operate in such a manner that it will minimize invasion of privacy. All flights will occur over private property with permission as part of a contractual service agreement. Any required video surveillance onto public areas such as roads and public paths will be covered under our CCTV licensing for public space surveillance.
We always ensure that our video recording is risk assessed, justified, proportionate, and controlled. We do not indiscriminately fly our drones in constant video recording mode. Our remote pilots are using the encrypted live video feed to survey areas and ensure nothing untoward is occurring for security and safety reasons. We only record imagery under certain circumstances and these would include instances such as:
We always ensure that our video recording is risk assessed, justified, proportionate, and controlled. We do not indiscriminately fly our drones in constant video recording mode. Our remote pilots are using the encrypted live video feed to survey areas and ensure nothing untoward is occurring for security and safety reasons. We only record imagery under certain circumstances and these would include instances such as:
- Increased risk and the likelihood of potential harm towards any of our clients, visitor, or members of the public
- A criminal offence is being committed
- Observing potential criminal activity with reason to believe an offence is about to take place
- Vulnerable, or at risk persons
- Health and safety violations that increase risk to the safety and well being of all staff, visitors, and members of the public
- Unknown persons/ trespass onto property we are assigned to protect
- To protect our own staff, security officers, and flight crew
- On request from the Emergency Services and under their authority
How Do we Safeguard and Store our Data
The recording function on the drone can be switched on and off remotely from the Remote Pilot location on the ground whilst the drone is airborne . We only engage the video recording function when justified. Data is secured on a 256 encrypted drive.
If there is a genuine requirement to record imagery, the data will be retained for the minimum time necessary for its purpose and disposed of appropriately when no longer required. The UAS Operator (Airvis Ltd) will ensure all data records and data destruction is current and up to date.
Our Security Drones are Encrypted and Password Protected
Robust Data SecurityAll of Airvis security drones offer a variety of data protection features that are specific to the Enterprise products so that our clients can be confident in the security of drone data and to protect the integrity of photos, videos, flight logs and other data generated during sensitive flights.
Encrypted Radio LinkThe radio link between the drone and the remote controller features robust AES-256 encryption. This ensures that our transmission signals cannot be interrupted or hacked by malicious 3rd parties. Any video feed streaming to the Remote Pilot is also guaranteed secure.

Local Data ModeWhen activated, Local Data Mode will stop the flight control App from sending or receiving any data over the internet. This provides added security assurances for our operations involving critical infrastructure, governmental projects, or other sensitive missions. It helps our team comply with data protection regulations.
Secure DataOur security drones incorporate 24 GB of onboard data storage and password protection. This provides additional security to the drone and its onboard data storage, while protecting the data even if the drone is physically compromised.
