Drone Training for Your Business
Train your team to operate drones
Airvis is an expert in drone security operations and provides customised drone training courses to meet your organisation’s specific needs. Our drone training course is based on over a decade of experience in drone piloting for security and facilities management, 24hrs a day. Our drone training is part of our highly successful drone department development program, empowering your organisation to take full ownership of its drone operations, and manage your own drone pilots.
GVC Drone Training
Our extensive course provides your team with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills required by the United Kingdom’s regulatory authority, the civil aviation authority. These credentials are crucial for the safe operation of drones in accordance with UK’s compliance and regulations.
Our experienced instructors offer expertise in both theoretical distance learning and practical flight training. Aimed at increasing the students’ understanding and competence with your aircraft, and have the confidence to go and reinforce your current site security procedures.
Our objective is to ensure that your management and wider team can function safely in compliance with all UK legislation, enabling your company to obtain it’s operational authorisation from the civil aviation authority.
UK CAA Approved Courses
We provide pilot competency courses that are designed to provide you with everything you need to obtain a certificate to fly sub 25kg drones. You will fly visual line of site operations (VLOS) conducted under a PDRA (Pre-Defined Risk Assessment). Once passed, your new company drone pilot will all receive nationally recognised certification enabling them to operate drones in the specific category.
In most cases, the specific category is the next step for people who want to carry out anything other than basic flying.
The specific category covers flying (operations) with a greater level of risk than the open category.
If you fly within the requirements of the open category then you don’t need any specific approvals from the CAA but in most cases you must register as an operator and get a flyer ID. (think hobbyist)

Drone Training Syllabus
In order for your staff to become trained drone pilots and your company achieve its operational authorisation, we divide the training course requirements into a manageable syllabus. They must demonstrate knowledge and competency in order to fly their drone safely in visual line of sight. This means that they will understand how to fly whilst maintaining a general visual line of sight to the drone and avoid air and ground risks in the process.
They will operate their drone safely, demonstrating their knowledge of the UK’s drone rules. We achieve this by completing a distance learning course and on-site theory course (classroom) prior to practical flight training.
1. Online Course - Pre Learning
Our online training course allows for learning on-demand and at the pilots own pace. Students require access to a PC or laptop and can complete the theory at work (personal development) or in their own time. We recommend that the online courses are completed by students prior to practical flight training. You will be assessed through a multiple-choice written examination.
Course modules include:
1. Air Law & Responsibilities
2. Airspace Operating Principles
3. Airmanship & Aviation Safety
4. Drone General Knowledge
5. Human Performance Limitations
6. Meteorology
7. Navigation & Charts
8. Operator Responsibilities
9. Operating Procedures
2. Practical Drone Flight Training

Fly safely and protect your investment
We are the only specialist drone security training provider that provides our own equipment for the drone flying phase of training. Assuring that your purchased commercial drone equipment is introduced in the training syllabus when your training drone pilot can operate and understand the basic principles first!
A student’s success is contingent upon accumulating sufficient flight hours practice with our qualified pilot instructor until they can exhibit the necessary skills to pass a flight assessment.
We recognise that many individuals will be new to flying drones, so maintain a low student-to-instructor ratio and offer training drones to guarantee ample hands-on flying experience.
3. Practical Flight Assessment
Demonstrate what you have learned
The practical flight assessment aims to ensure that the student drone pilot under evaluation can safely perform various visual line of site (VLOS) operations whilst following the procedures outlined in their operations manual.
This assessment will take place outdoors, where students are required to demonstrate their proficiency in a variety of pre-flight and post-flight actions, as well as in-flight emergency procedures. Completion of the practical flight test is mandatory for all students.
Drone Training Support Vehicles
We have invested in, and purposely designed drone support vehicles to assist drone pilots involved in flight training outdoors. Practical flying of aircraft involves long periods outside (in British weather) and to ensure we can operate safely and fly for long periods developing those pilot skills, the vehicle assists by providing:
- Onboard diesel heaters – keeping hands warm to fly safely
- Comfortable seating and microwave – supporting rest periods
- Multiple monitors – to assist with lesson plans and training
- Weather reports and ADS-B – for safer general visual line of sight drone flying
High powered LED bars provide training instructors with a means to control white light and ensure pilot safety when training at night.
An awning enhances comfort during inclement and sunny weather, while also promoting safety by creating a more pleasant training environment.
